The scales are large and glossy, reflecting hues of blue, violet, or purplish-black when exposed to sunlight - a characteristic that inspired their common name, Indigo Snake. Head and Eyes: The head is broad, rounded, and distinct from the neck, with large symmetrical scales. Eyes are relatively large, providing excellent vision, and the round pupils indicate diurnal activity. Coloration: The body is uniformly dark blue to black, with an iridescent gloss that shifts under different lighting angles.
