Abagail Jones is an only child. Her mother has passed, and she doesn't communicate with her father. She lives alone in a small apartment above the coffee shop where she works. One day, she is approached by a man who tells her he is the lawyer of her eccentric spinster great aunt, whom she's never heard of. She inherited her aunt's house and estate, which several townspeople blame for odd occurrences. As she explores the house, Abagail learns she is not alone. She finds a man playing a piano in the ballroom.
Grant Packard is the most stubborn, infuriating, handsome man she's ever seen, and he claims he has inherited the house from his great-uncle. They've both been left at the house and do their best to avoid each other, but that soon becomes impossible.
The pair are stuck with no real idea where they are and no way to leave. When weird things start happening, and shady people start poking around, Abagail and Grant call a truce on their feelings and work together to discover the mystery of the house and protect themselves.
The more they dig, the more family secrets are revealed, connecting them through generations, and the pull between them becomes harder to resist. Soon, they discover they are the key to unlocking everything.
