The Island of Dr. Moreau is a science fiction novel written by H.G. Wells. The story is about a shipwrecked man named Edward Prendick who is rescued by a passing ship and taken to an island where he meets a scientist named Dr. Moreau. Dr. Moreau has been conducting experiments on animals, attempting to turn them into human-like beings. Prendick soon discovers that the island is inhabited by these beast men and that Dr. Moreau's experiments have gone horribly wrong. As Prendick tries to escape the island, he is faced with the terrifying reality that the beast men have developed their own religion and are becoming increasingly violent. The novel explores themes of evolution, morality, and the limits of science.
