Luigi Pirandello (1867-1936) pubblicò la novella Donna Mimma nel 1925 all'interno della collezione Novelle per un anno, opera in quindici volumi mai terminata dall'autore e portata alle stampe da Bemporad e Mondadori tra gli anni 1922 e 1937.
In appendice a questa edizione è proposta una nota di Antonio Gramsci, critico teatrale d'eccezione per la redazione torinese del giornale Avanti!, dal titolo Il teatro di Pirandello, pubblicata postuma da Einaudi nel 1950 nella raccolta Quaderni del carcere, nel volume Letteratura e vita nazionale.
