La Figlia Del Reggimento (The Daughter of the Regiment) is a comic opera (melodramma comico) in two acts by Gaetano Donizetti, with a libretto in Italian by Henri Saint-Georges and Jean-François-Alfred Bayard. First performed in 1840, the opera tells the story of Marie, a young woman raised by a regiment of French soldiers. The opera is known for its demanding vocal requirements, particularly the tenor aria Ah! mes amis, quel jour de fête!, which requires nine high C's.
