Full of fears, tears and cheers. Being sworn at, spat at, struck by thrown missiles and once floored, It All Kicks Off On Sunday puts the whistle in your hands. It accurately reports incidents that have decidedly and dramatically changed the face of soccer. A decision taken when, in 1961 the capped wages of twenty pounds weekly, was universally scrapped.
Since when and mores the pity, soccer has become awash with money. He persuaded his son to qualify and become a referee at eighteen. Sadly he resigned before the season's end. Just one of the one hundred of that season's one hundred and fifty Essex referees who qualifed that year. Frank hopes his 14 year old Grand Daughter, Millie, a newly qualified this year's referee, is determined it won't.
As the end of his refereeing activities drew to a close, Frank said given the opportunity, he'd do it all again. At age 89 a rare compliment indeed. Seriously, if you enjoy a challenge, there's none better said the retired man in the middle.
