I love fairy tales and this retelling is delightful. Piers Anthony and J.R. Rain have taken the Jack and the Beanstalk tale and given it their own amusing, while thought-provoking, style. Mingling fairy tale and mythology with great effect while letting human characters muddle on to learn and grow in an atmosphere of humor makes this a fun read. This is a lot of fun and very busy, by which I mean new characters being added frequently, plot twists, and interesting surprises. The talking hen is my favorite. The story moves at a fast pace.
