When learning Japanese, there are few opportunities or reference materials for learning reading comprehension techniques (like the commentary on English texts available for English learners). Currently, there is a tendency to go through textbook learning focused on grammar while providing an inadequate amount of practice when it comes to building reading ability from the ground up. However, without solid reading comprehension techniques, Japanese learners will not be able to fully read difficult or long sentences. This leads Japanese language learners to have trouble with the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test, the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students, and university and other entrance exams. Even after beginning college, reading texts is a heavy burden. This results in even contact with the Japanese language becoming something painful.
This book is meant to solve that problem. Through completing all of its training, learners will extend their ability to read. This is supported by two pillars of learning. One is the review of grammatical items. In each lesson, a number of grammatical items targeted for learning are brought up and explained. Get a firm understanding of their meaning and use as you come across them in sentences. The other pillar is understanding sentence structure. You will be able to grasp the unique characteristics and patterns of Japanese sentences and expressions through easy-to-understand diagrams of sentence structure and modifier relationships.
By performing more and more of this training, you will find it easier to read complex and long sentences, gain a greater and greater familiarity with Japanese sentences, and naturally increase the amount of vocabulary and expressions at your disposal.
