Thirty years ago, a hostage rescue job in Puerto Vallarta put him and Rick on the trail of a set of custom lenses made by the keeper of the old Point Loma Lighthouse over a hundred years ago. What the lenses were made for, and their purpose, is a mystery with few clues. But they disappeared shortly before the keeper died, and the government was keenly interested in their recovery. Now the lenses are potentially worth millions, and Randall thinks he may finally know where they are at, but he needs help. With Rick dead and gone, that leaves Scott. What starts as a simple consultation for a thousand bucks pay turns into a job offer Scott can't refuse: finish the work Randall and Uncle Rick started, and get the lenses. Problem is, Scott has no idea what he's doing. But he's going to make Uncle Rick proud and figure it out one way or another, so he joins forces with some of San Diego's young and hotshot criminal talents. But before this job is over, he's going to find out that despite humanity's mastery of science and profound understanding of the universe, there exists a world of wonders he never imagined possible.
