La otra historia: AntologÃa de autoras españolas is a literary anthology written entirely in Spanish and organized chronologically from Medieval times to the 21st century, beginning with the Jarchas and ending with Luisa Castro. The book features whole, uncut examples of poetry, drama, and narratives written by 25 Spanish women writers from all regions of Spain.
Each chapter includes a brief introduction to the author and her work, a short bibliography for the author, the chosen piece of literature, and the glosses for that piece. Each entry is glossed in Spanish and English to help readers identify and clarify unfamiliar lexical, historical, and cultural terms. The book fills a gap in the literature, affording Spanish women writers their own space to share their words. In doing so, students are introduced to the beauty of the feminine voice in the literature of Spain.
