Lady Chatterley's Lover is a novel by D.H. Lawrence, first published privately in 1928 in Italy, and later banned in the United Kingdom until 1960. The novel tells the story of Constance Chatterley, a young, upper-class woman who marries Clifford Chatterley, a wealthy, intellectual man who becomes paralyzed from the waist down during World War I. Constance is unable to find fulfillment in her marriage, both emotionally and sexually, and begins an affair with the gamekeeper, Oliver Mellors. The novel explores themes of class, sexuality, and love, and is known for its explicit descriptions of sex and its frank portrayal of the female protagonist's sexual desires. It is considered a classic of 20th-century literature and has been adapted into numerous films and stage productions.Ours is essentially a tragic age, so we refuse to take it tragically. The cataclysm has happened, we are among the ruins, we start to build up new little habitats, to have new little hopes. It is rather hard work: there is now no smooth road into the future: but we go round, or scramble over the obstacles. We've got to live, no matter how many skies have fallen. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
