Letters To A Seceder From The Church Of England To The Communion Of Rome is a book written by William Edward Scudamore in 1851. The book is a series of letters addressed to an individual who has left the Church of England and joined the Roman Catholic Church. Scudamore, who was a prominent Anglican theologian and scholar, writes in a compassionate and persuasive tone, seeking to convince the seceder to return to the Church of England. The book is divided into four parts, each containing several letters. In the first part, Scudamore discusses the reasons why the seceder left the Church of England and offers his own perspective on those issues. In the second part, he addresses the seceder's concerns about the Church of England's doctrine and liturgy. In the third part, Scudamore discusses the differences between the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church, and why he believes the former is the better choice. Finally, in the fourth part, he offers some practical advice for the seceder on how to return to the Church of England.Throughout the book, Scudamore draws on his extensive knowledge of theology and Church history to make his case. He also includes numerous quotations from the Bible and other sources to support his arguments. Overall, Letters To A Seceder From The Church Of England To The Communion Of Rome is a thoughtful and well-reasoned defense of the Church of England, and a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history and theology of Anglicanism. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
