The Light That Lures is a novel written by Percy James Brebner and published in 1911. The story is set in the early 1900s and follows the life of a young woman named Ruth, who is orphaned at a young age and forced to make her own way in the world. Ruth is a strong and independent character, who is determined to succeed in life despite the many obstacles she faces. The novel is divided into three parts, each of which follows a different phase of Ruth's life. In the first part, Ruth is living with her aunt and uncle in a small town in England. She is unhappy with her life and dreams of escaping to a more exciting place. When she meets a young man named Harry, she falls in love and decides to marry him, even though her family disapproves. In the second part of the novel, Ruth and Harry move to London, where they struggle to make ends meet. Ruth takes a job as a seamstress and Harry works as a clerk, but they are barely able to pay their bills. Despite their financial difficulties, Ruth remains optimistic and determined to make a better life for herself and her husband. In the third part of the novel, Ruth and Harry move to Canada, where they hope to find a better life. They settle in a small town and start a family, but their happiness is short-lived when Harry dies suddenly. Ruth is left to raise their children on her own, but she refuses to give up. She works hard to provide for her family and eventually becomes a successful businesswoman. The Light That Lures is a heartwarming story of perseverance and determination. It is a testament to the human spirit and the power of love to overcome even the most difficult challenges. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
