Poems of Love, Hope, Rage & Despair Paul Murphy Life is the longest short journey you'll make...' This volume in The Paul Murphy Lyrics series contains all material written by the Irish singer/songwriter during August 2025. During that time, and despite being leg-paralysed and arm-impaired from a muscle-wasting neurological condition, he created yet another stunning array of narrative lyrics, including 'Save This Land' [taken up and known by many as 'The Patriot's Anthem']; the delicate ballads 'Charmaine' and 'Kisses In The Park'; 'Four Masks' and 'Final Sins', both reflections on betrayed love; the political/religion commentaries 'Designed To Deceive' and 'What's One More'; and, humour ever-present, the risqué 'Romeo & Juliette'. Given the circumstances, many works deal with the shortness of life, and how much of it is needlessly wasted, and as always, the railer against injustice was strident to the end in works such as 'Who'll Laugh Last' and 'To Save The Child'. Even more astonishing than his creating these works in severe pain and disability, Paul was, at the same time, writing the epic Faded Stardust, the stand-alone 100,000-word novel on the dark side of the entertainment industry written entirely in rhyme. An enthralling, emotive, thought-provoking and moving collection of final works, crafted by a unique talent in the prose-narrative storytelling genre. Also included as bonus material are photographs of the hand-written lyrics to those songs that had them - due to disabled fingers, most of the latter works were composed live-to-camera and transcribed later; and online cue-cards from the final live internet performance Paul ever gave. To The Open Fire Have I got one more inside of me

To The Open Fire Have I got one more inside of me
I think I better take a look
There's nobody here to guide me
And blank pages in my book
I'm gonna break the mirror again
And play around with the shards
If you see anybody you think you know
Give them my regards Is it me that I must deal with
Nothing here looks like a clue
If anybody remembers me
Did I leave anything with you
I'm trying to weave a tapestry
Before they repossess the loom
But I've got an ominous feeling
Someone's in my room You think I'd learn my lesson by now
That nobody gives a damn
I keep going back through all I've written
To find out who I am
I couldn't find a smile anywhere
Let alone a Love you kiss
Only people closing my bedroom door
Saying He won't be missed Will the sun rise one more time
To cast more shadows over me
If you can't view the ones you love
Then what would you want to see
I kept searching for an answer
And not a one ever found
I think I must have been somewhere else
When my turn came around
There's nobody here to guide me
And blank pages in my book
I'm gonna break the mirror again
And play around with the shards
If you see anybody you think you know
Give them my regards Is it me that I must deal with
Nothing here looks like a clue
If anybody remembers me
