The Little Indian Weaver is a children's book written by Madeline Brandeis. The story follows a young girl named Nalini, who lives in a small village in India. Nalini dreams of becoming a weaver like her mother, but her father believes that girls should not learn the trade. Despite this, Nalini continues to practice weaving in secret. One day, a wealthy woman from the city comes to the village and offers to buy Nalini's mother's beautiful weaving. Nalini's mother is unable to finish the weaving in time, so Nalini steps in and completes it herself. The woman is impressed by Nalini's talent and offers to take her to the city to work as a weaver.Nalini's father is initially hesitant to let her go, but eventually agrees. In the city, Nalini learns new weaving techniques and becomes a successful weaver. She returns to her village and teaches the other girls how to weave, breaking down gender barriers and inspiring others to follow their dreams. The Little Indian Weaver is a heartwarming tale about perseverance, determination, and the importance of following one's passions. It also highlights the cultural significance of weaving in India and the power of education to empower young girls. The book is beautifully illustrated and is suitable for children ages 4-8.1928. Brandeis has put together a delightful series of books about children around the world. Contents: The Corn Ear Doll; Something Terrible Happens; At the Trading Post; The Prayer Stick; At Bah's Hogan; Billy Starts His Story; All About the Indians; and Who Wins the Radio?
