This is a series of books that takes you on a journey through the romantic relationships I've experienced. It's about what I've learned from them and how I've evolved from my first love to where I am today. This book is a tribute to all of them because each relationship, no matter how big or small, has been an invaluable teacher in my life, contributing to my personal growth.
I've chosen to publish this book because it's also a voyage of self-discovery. It's about personal growth and maturation, and I believe many readers will relate to it. Sharing my story with utmost honesty, free from judgment and restrictions, can lead to mutual growth for both the storyteller and the reader.
Writing this book was, in itself, an exercise in personal growth and introspection that profoundly benefited me. My hope is that some readers will find parts of my story relatable and be inspired to embark on their own introspective journey, which is an essential part of life.
The book starts during my adolescence and spans into my adulthood. I wanted to depict how my thoughts and actions evolved during these different life stages. As I matured, my teenage fears gradually dissipated, not only due to aging but also because of an increased self-awareness. I've chosen to portray it this way because recognizing and accepting our various life stages is vital; it's a reminder that we should embrace and love ourselves for who we are today, as well as for who we were in the past.
Without the young girl I once was, I wouldn't be the woman I've become today.
In the second chapter of the Loves of My Life book series, I talk about Mauricio, one of the best friends I've ever had in my life. But as often happens, there are friends who should remain as such. Not always is the best friend our best partner, and with Mau, that was the case.
Sometimes, I think Mau and I were so similar in certain things that we wouldn't have been compatible as a couple. Both of us were proud, and both of us were strong in what we believed and in what we thought the path should be. When those paths are not the same, it's difficult to harmonize as a couple.
I learned also that sometimes what is good for society, or for a specific religion, even for your mother, it's not necessarily the best for you. Sometimes it's difficult to deviate from the path that your family think is the best for you.
In my relationship with Mauricio, I was a completely different person than I was with Vic. However, I was still far from my journey to finding myself. Thanks to him, or in his company, I found a bit more of my path and made very beneficial changes for myself, for my self-discovery.
