Lucia Di Lammermoor, also known as Lucie Of Lammermoor, is an opera composed by Gaetano Donizetti and first performed in 1835. The story is based on Sir Walter Scott's novel The Bride of Lammermoor and tells the tragic tale of Lucia, a young woman from a noble Scottish family who is forced into an arranged marriage with a man she does not love. Lucia is in love with Edgardo, a member of a rival family, and the two secretly plan to elope. However, their plans are thwarted by Lucia's brother, who forces her to marry his chosen suitor. The resulting emotional turmoil leads to a series of tragic events, including a murder and Lucia's descent into madness. Donizetti's music is known for its haunting melodies and emotional depth, and Lucia Di Lammermoor is considered one of his greatest works. This edition of the opera includes the libretto and is presented in three acts. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
