Anne, a beautiful jeweler is less interested in the destiny of France than in the magnificent diamonds that she has admired from afar on the members of the royal family in Paris. All the crown jewels have been confiscated and are being held in a secure room Place de la Concorde. 9000 diamonds, 500 pearls, 200 rubies, 71 topazes, 150 emeralds, 135 saphires, the famous blue diamond and, above all the Regent, the biggest diamond in the world.
Anne is a spy for the British and under the orders of her ex-lover and notorious playboy Lord Carrington, who is also the father of her son, Alexander. But when Alexander whom she had left with a wet nurse in the country is mysteriously kidnapped, Anne loses all taste for life and appears oblivious to the escalating political tensions that surround her. The king and queen attempt to flee and are caught and imprisoned. War is declared and the September massacres in Paris provoke hate and even more turmoil. Paul Miette, a charming adventurer, will bring Anne's depleted spirit back to life by involving her in an extravagant plan to steal the crown jewels in the midst of the drama and Terror regime of the French revolution. However a certain police inspector Letellier is at his post and has made it a question of honor to find and arrest the entire band of thieves.
