Mark Keith Robinson (born August 18, 1968) is an American politician and the 35th lieutenant governor of North Carolina, serving since 2021. He has made history as North Carolina's first Black lieutenant governor and the first Black major party nominee for governor in the state's history. A member of the Republican Party, Robinson is the nominee for the 2024 North Carolina gubernatorial election, where he will face Democratic Attorney General Josh Stein.

A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, Robinson spent years working in furniture manufacturing before entering politics. He first gained national attention in 2018 when a passionate speech defending gun rights at a Greensboro City Council meeting went viral, following the tragic Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. This moment catapulted him into the political spotlight, leading to his successful campaign for lieutenant governor in 2020, where he defeated Democratic state representative Yvonne Lewis Holley.

Despite his rapid political ascent, Robinson's career has been marked by significant controversy. His public statements have often sparked debate, as he has promoted conspiracy theories, made inflammatory remarks on topics including race, religion, and gender identity, and has been linked to controversial comments on online forums. Robinson has denied certain accusations, including his alleged involvement in a forum where he reportedly praised Adolf Hitler and voiced support for slavery, but his rhetoric continues to draw both sharp criticism and strong support from different segments of the public.

As he seeks the governorship in 2024, Robinson's candidacy represents both a historic milestone and a source of ongoing controversy in North Carolina politics.
