This paper was written as part of the Master's Degree in Communication Sciences at the University of Minho, specializing in Information and Journalism, in 2010. It aims to make an empirical analysis of the news coverage on the Expresso and Jornal de Notícias websites about the Orthographic Agreement of the Portuguese Language, from 2008 until the first half of 2010. The Orthographic Agreement is a treaty signed between the member countries of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), with the aim of unifying the orthographic systems of these countries.
