AN ALTERNATE TIMELINE
The Year is 1941,
and the British Union of Fascists hold the majority in the House of Commons, after forming an unholy alliance with the Conservative Party. With Winston Churchill forced to retire from public life, due to a serious injury in a mysterious car accident, the BUF leader Oswald Mosley now rules the roost. A powerful orator, Mosley's speeches have electrified and horrified the British public in equal measures. His close friendship with the German Fuhrer Adolf Hitler ensured Great Britain did not entered the war on the side of Poland. She now stands as an ally to Herr Hitler, much to the disgust of the huge majority of the population. The Nazis rule Europe and are winning in the East against the Soviet Union. America remains neutral. Resistance to Mosley's rule in Great Britain is massive, however, his hated black shirts and secret police, the Protectorate, modelled on Hitler's Gestapo, ruthlessly hunt down any who dare to speak up. Those who do are swiftly hunted down, taken away, tortured, then murdered. Mosley has just arrived home from Berlin after a meeting with the Fuhrer, and has travelled to Manchester, to meet the BUF Protector of the North, William Joyce, and discuss with him plans by Hitler that he has been ordered to carry out. In a private suite at the Midland Hotel, one much favoured by the Fuhrer, over a bottle of the finest whiskey, the two are chatting. The play begins....
