A Group of fur trappers, known as 'the Death wind', along with Sarah and Jamie, two young settlers they rescued in their travels, have already established a homestead on the williamette river of the late 1820's. Their lives face many challenges, the biggest of them being the threat of a certain british officer, whose sworn, sick purpose is to destroy them. Pirates, romance, wilderness survival and team work lace this novel with barbed arrows of mystery, love, hate and death. The rewards of perseverance and commitment, as well as the challenge of building a future in early Oregon, are huge. At the same time, evil raises its ugly head, and only the 'hangman's Noose', along with their finely honed frontier fighting skills, can save them!
