This book is a fictional story about a man who works overseas for the railroad company he's employed by, he's worked for two years in China, two years in Egypt and then two years in South Africa, being a highly skilled engineer, he commands a very high and lucrative wage. He only spends a few days at home every two years, his twin daughters don't see much of him and neither does his wife.
