The Mysterious Stranger is a novel by the famous American author Mark Twain. The story is set in a small village in Austria in the late 16th century and follows the adventures of a group of young boys who meet a mysterious stranger named Satan. Satan claims to be an angel and begins to teach the boys about the nature of the universe and the meaning of life.As the boys spend more time with Satan, they begin to question their own beliefs and the beliefs of their community. They witness the stranger performing miracles and causing supernatural events to occur, which only adds to their confusion. The novel is a philosophical exploration of the nature of human existence and the role of religion in society. Twain uses the character of Satan to challenge traditional religious beliefs and to question the idea of a benevolent God.The Mysterious Stranger is considered to be one of Twain's most controversial works and was not published until after his death. The novel has been adapted into several films and stage productions and continues to be a popular read among fans of Twain's work.IT WAS IN 1590--winter. Austria was far away from the world, and asleep; it was still the Middle Ages in Austria, and promised to remain so forever. Some even set it away back centuries upon centuries and said that by the mental and spiritual clock it was still the Age of Belief in Austria. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
