The writers of the scriptures experienced phenomena of nature, and they used their scientific understanding of these phenomena to describe God. By examining their views of wind, fire, water, vision, human anatomy and human creation we can get insights into their thoughts on the Holy Spirit, the significance of baptism and communion, and of diseases and even food. We continue a quest to understand ourselves and the cosmos, but we remain in awe. We learn from how the people in the Bible strove to understand God. We continue to reflect on the words of Isaiah (Isaiah 55:8): For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
