The Nitisataka and Vairagyasataka of Bhartrihari is a book that was originally written in Sanskrit and was translated into English by Kashinath Trimbak Telang in 1874. The book contains two separate works by the ancient Indian philosopher and poet Bhartrihari. The first, Nitisataka, is a collection of 100 verses that offer advice on how to live a virtuous and successful life. The second, Vairagyasataka, is a collection of 100 verses that focus on the theme of detachment and renunciation. In addition to the original Sanskrit verses, Telang's translation also includes extracts from two Sanskrit commentaries, which provide further insight into the meaning and context of the verses. The book is a valuable resource for students of Indian philosophy and literature, as well as anyone interested in exploring the themes of morality, ethics, and spirituality. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
