Why write a book on the Ten Commandments? The Ten Commandments hold the secret to reclaiming America from the moral decline caused by secular humanism in schools. Imagine if Americans today simply said, I will live by the Ten Commandments every day. I will honor and obey God. I will worship weekly in church or synagogue. I will respect spiritual authority. I will not murder, hate, commit adultery, indulge in lust, lie, steal, cheat, envy, or covet. That alone would transform this nation overnight
Our massive national problems of crime, AIDS, abortion, divorce, and drugs would be over. It would be, as the Bible says, as the days of heaven on earth. You could walk down the streets of this or any other city at midnight without any fear whatsoever. Taxes would drop like a rock. Why? There would be no jails, no prisons, and courts would only be for people getting traffic tickets. You know how I know that? You wouldn't need a condom culture to save America. Why? Why a series on the Ten Commandments? Because the Ten Commandments hold the secret to a sweeping spiritual revival in the church. Suppose that every church in America today were ablaze with the zeal of God-enough to live by the Ten Commandments.
There would be an explosion of personal holiness. There would be an explosion in the maintenance of traditional values. There would be a revival of purity, a revival of power, and a revival of divine purpose in the life of every believer. Why a book on the Ten Commandments? The Ten Commandments are God's blueprint for a successful, happy, and prosperous life. The first three commandments deal with man's relationship to God.
Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Secondly, thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image. Thirdly, thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. The fourth and fifth commandments deal with relationships within the family: Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy. Honor thy father and thy mother. The last four commandments deal with the foundations of faith for the nation: Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not commit adultery. Thou shalt not steal. Thou shalt not bear false witness. Thou shalt not covet. These are the things that will transform your life.
Why a book on the Ten Commandments? Because the Ten Commandments are God's antibody shot for paganism, the penicillin shot for secular humanism. Secular humanism has filled our prisons and drug rehab centers. When there's no absolute right and no absolute wrong, there's no need for a Savior. You can't do anything bad enough to warrant the need for Savior. Secular humanism has filled our divorce courts and shelters for battered wives.
There are people who actually feel that if I want to smack you in the chops, you have a license to do that. You were taught that in public school. Rape crisis centers, mental hospitals, and singles bars are filled because of the mental disease of secular humanism. I want you to understand that secular humanism is a brain-dead philosophy that has destroyed the moral fabric of America. When they say there is no absolute right and there is no absolute wrong, here are ten commandments that shall shout back, Thou shalt not, thou shalt not, thou shalt not.
Some claim the Bible is antiquated for our progressive society, but how wrong can they be? Jesus said, Think not that I have come to destroy the law; I have come to fulfill the law. The Bible does not begin at Matthew 1:1-it begins with Genesis 1:1. This is just as much the word of God as it was the day it was written, and it remains true today. Jesus said of the Ten Commandments, Listen to me, whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
