In the fifth adventure in the series, a warm, blustery wind brings a new friend and a gentle mystery to the garden. Pip, Humm, and Luna meet Beatrice, a very old and very fluffy honeybee who has been blown off course and, due to her fading memory, cannot find her way home. Her only clue is that the entrance to her hive is hidden behind a special secret door flower.
Eager to help, the trio splits up to cover all the possibilities. Humm spends the day showing Beatrice all the bright, sun-loving flowers, while Pip guides her through the moonlit garden to see all the night-blooming blossoms. But Beatrice recognizes none of them, and she begins to lose hope, comparing her memory to a leaky honeycomb.
It is Luna, the wise moth of the twilight, who suggests that the secret flower might not belong to the day or the night, but to the time in between. With Beatrice's memory sparked by the idea of a flower that opens when the day is sleepy, the friends lead her to a patch of evening primrose. As dusk settles, they watch in wonder as the flowers pop open, releasing a familiar lemony scent that finally guides Beatrice home.
