O Sefer Bereshit, ou Livro de Genesis, dentre todos os livros que compõem a Torah, é o mais espiritual e mÃstico, e nada em seu conteúdo deve ser compreendido de forma literal. O real intento de sua existência se esconde atrás de histórias de homens que deram inÃcio a um povo e a uma nação, como Adam, Noach, Abraham, Isaac, Yaakov e os doze patriarcas da tribos de Israel. Cada uma dessas histórias, além de abordarem fatos verÃdicos, possuem enormes conceitos espirituais que revelam como Hashem, o Criador de todas as coisas, estabeleceu o funcionamento da realidade onde nos encontramos e como a criação se porta perante o ser humano.
Muitos vêem a Torah como um livro de regras e leis, por esse fato, Rashi faz um pergunta retórica, perguntado o por que, se realmente a Torah fosse apenas um livro de regras, ela não começa com o primeiro mandamento dado a Israel? A resposta é simples, mas não tão óbvia: para que o homem possa, além de saber de onde veio, conhecer a estrutura e o Modos Operandos de todas as esferas da criação. Esse entendimento permite ao homem como essas esferas, desde a mais baixa até a mais elevada, atuam na existência humana e influenciam o comportamento do homem.
Nossos sábios contam que quando Moises estava recebendo a Torah no monte Sinai, Hashem lhe disse que os mistérios de Sua palavra, os quais muitos se escondem dentro da Torah Oral, não seriam abertamente revelados, pois Ele sabia que viria um dia que Sua Torah cairia nas mãos das nações idolatras, nações as quais profanariam os mistérios espirituais de Hashem. Por esse fato, Genesis nasceu sob uma vestimenta que podemos chamar de relatos e histórias, pelas quais, Hashem esconde Seus verdadeiros ensinos que serão revelados apenas àqueles que se engajam em Sua plena vontade.
O primeiro Livro da Torah não apenas relata a criação de todas as coisas conforme está escrito de forma literal, como também relata a criação de TODAS as coisas que não estão abertamente escritas. Em suas palavras ocultas, o Livro de Genesis relata a obra criacional de Hashem abordando além daquilo que somos capazes de perceber pelos nossos cinco sentidos; desde a criação de conceitos abstratos, ideias relativas, concepções extra-racionais, destino, sorte e tudo que pode ser conceituado pelo pensamento filosófico ou teológico. Além disso, os relatos presentes nesse livro, em suas entre-linhas, revelam como podemos nos tornar capazes de nos desvincularmos das influências astrais e de todo decreto negativo impostos em nossas vidas a partir do momento em que viemos ao mundo. Sefer Bereshit é o manual de instruções que ensina ao homem como viver, se relacionar e melhorar à realidade onde ele está inserido, sem o qual, a observância dos mandamentos da Torah perderia totalmente sua razão.
