This book shows the progression of technical difficulty in the three Brazilian Suites for solo piano by Oscar Lorenzo Fernândez (1897 - 1948), from the point of view of writing and pianistic technique, using tools that help to identify the existing difficulties. The work was analysed using the following previously established categories: tempo and rhythm, melody, texture and sonority. Each of these categories was given three possible levels of difficulty: little difficulty, reasonable difficulty and great difficulty. The analysis enabled comparisons to be made between the pieces on the basis of the criteria used and proved the existence of a gradation of pianistic difficulty in the three Suítes Brasileiras.
