Although in her thirties and still unmarried, Judith King had thought she had adapted to her rather lonely life. However, when she receives an unexpected letter one winter's day, she finds that perhaps she is not as content as she tried to believe. The letter is from an old friend of Judith's mother-who died long ago-and who wishes to come for a visit. Intrigued and rather eager for a bit of company, Judith agrees to a visit from Joanna Bontrager and her nephew Nathan.
But the visit does not start out at all as Judith expected. First, she has an awkward meeting with Nathan-whose rather brisk manner is somehow softened by his handsomeness. Then, she learns that her Aunt Joanna carries a burden of guilt, and is determined to make up for it by finding a husband for Judith, whether she wants one or not. Now Judith finds herself not only playing along, but also trying to find a suitable wife for Nathan!
However, fate is a funny thing, and sometimes Gott's plans for us are not quite what we expected.
