In the Old Testament, the prophet stood as God's appointed voice to kings and nations. Through the prophet, the Lord revealed His will, established His purposes, and directed the course of His covenant people. The prophetic message was not merely one of encouragement; it frequently carried correction, rebuke, judgment, warning, and a call to repentance. Few ministries have been so misunderstood, romanticised, abused, or surrounded by confusion as the prophetic. Misconceptions, sensationalism, counterfeit manifestations, and false prophetic movements have obscured the beauty and authority of the genuine office, causing many to either fear it or dismiss it altogether.
