In 1897, J. Gordon Coogler published a single volume containing his original poems, combining five previous volumes into one. His poetic efforts had garnered more than one interesting review and Coogler included them in this combined volume of Purely Original Verse. An astute reader will find the reviews to often be as interesting as the poetry itself. Even those who do not like poetry find Coogler's work gentle, heartfelt, and truly personal.
