Quentin Durward: St. Ronans Well is a novel written by Scottish author Walter Scott and published in 1845. The book is set in 15th-century France and follows the adventures of the titular character, Quentin Durward, as he becomes embroiled in the political machinations of the French court and falls in love with a beautiful countess. Quentin is a young Scottish archer who travels to France in search of adventure and fortune. He quickly becomes involved in the power struggles between Louis XI, the King of France, and Charles the Bold, the Duke of Burgundy. Along the way, he meets a cast of colorful characters, including the beautiful Isabelle de Croye, who captures his heart. As the story unfolds, Quentin finds himself caught up in a web of intrigue and betrayal, as he tries to navigate the treacherous world of French politics. He must use all of his skills as a warrior and a diplomat to survive and protect those he loves. St. Ronans Well, the second half of the book, is a separate story set in Scotland. It follows the fortunes of a group of characters who gather at a spa town to take the waters and enjoy the social scene. The plot revolves around the love triangle between the beautiful Clara Mowbray, the rakish Sir Bingo Binks, and the honorable Mr. Mowbray. Overall, Quentin Durward: St. Ronans Well is a classic adventure story that combines romance, politics, and action in a thrilling tale that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. Scotts vivid descriptions of the medieval world and his complex characters make this a must-read for fans of historical fiction. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
