Racine's Andromaque is a play written by the French playwright Jean Racine in 1667. The play is set in ancient Greece and tells the story of Andromaque, the widow of Hector, who is now a captive of the Greek king Pyrrhus. Pyrrhus is in love with Andromaque, but she is still devoted to her dead husband and refuses his advances. Meanwhile, Pyrrhus's fianc�����e Hermione becomes jealous of Andromaque and plots to have her killed. The play explores themes of love, jealousy, honor, and duty, and is considered one of Racine's masterpieces.
