Return to Huckleberry Mountain: The Legend of Brownfoot

This is a wonderful children's book about a magical mountain lion cub named Brownfoot, who has been given the ability to speak and think like a human. Hunters capture his mother Sadie and in a long cold winter, he flees into the forest and ends up along a frozen river where he is befriended and saved by a young girl named Nicole snowshoe. Brown foot is taken in and given warmth and is cared for throughout the long winter by her family, but his presence is soon discovered by an outlaw biker named Thorkel, who wants to capture him and sell him to the Big Groucho Circus. After a series of adventures Brown foot is able to return home and have a joyous reunion with his mother who had escaped her captors and has been very worried about her cub all winter wondering what had happened to him. This is followed by more adventures with his friends Hoagie Wolf and Slewfoot the Bear, especially in a haunted mansion known as Treason House where they encounter the mad scientist Doctor Caractacus Trastor. These are a delightful set of short stories for children ages four to eleven and is filled with color images to bring the stories alive for your child.
