A revocable living trust is used to hold ownership of assets outside of your estate during your lifetime, and to then distributing those assets to your named beneficiaries after your death. Assets held outside your estate don't need to go through probate and can be quickly distributed to your beneficiaries.
However, having created a living trust, you may decide to terminate that arrangement. This could be due to changes in probate law or because you wish to leave your assets in some other way than that envisaged by your revocable living trust. To do so, you need to serve a notice of revocation on the current trustees (which could include you) and call on them to transfer the trust assets back to you.
