Life is joyous and messy, lovely and horrible. Lillie Sue Walloon's life is an example of human relationships with all the joys and hardships of loving difficult people. It is a story that encompasses the common human experience of family differences, mental illness and the ultimate love between family and friends. It is a warning tale as well as a heartwarming story. Lillie's story brings tears of laughter and sorrow. From her humorous truck driving baby brother to her loving, good natured father, we find joy and hilarity. On the other end of the spectrum are the difficult to evil men she falls in love with and the consequences of those relationships. Through Lillie's life one can see many aspects of themselves and their own relationships. Perhaps it could serve as a cautionary tale to guide others away from poor choices or to see a situation from another angle. Lillie did everything out of love and fear. She worked hard to succeed and was hit hard with the truth of her choices. Lillie was raised by a loving, happy, but financially poor family. The Walloon family, except their two oldest children, was content with their position in life. Boyd Walloon was never a wealthy or powerful man by earthly standards, but by the standards of the soul there was none above him. People loved the Walloons and enjoyed being with them. Folks with bigger, fancier homes chose to celebrate at the humble Walloon home; for it was here that one would feel loved and be accepted no matter who you were or what was wrong with you. They were not perfect people, but people perfect to be human with.
