The book combined a Duke's coming of age, a desperate young woman, and a murder mystery. Ash is rich and rather a dandy but when it comes to protecting those he loves his strength of character comes through. Abuse and killing is not his way and when a young abused noble woman comes to him with news of a plot to kill him and harm his family he is drawn into a world of vicious greed.
