Sāṅkhya Darśana is the oldest of the six philosophies of Bharat that follow the Vedas as their authority. The present edition of Sāṅkhya Sūtras comprises Sanskrit text, Roman Transliteration, and the first authentic English commentary. Sāṅkhya deals with the theoretical knowledge of embodiment (bondage) and disembodiment (liberation) of the soul.
The study of this original text discards hypothetical theories claiming that Sāṅkhya does not believe in the existence of God. Readers and researchers will find that Sāṅkhya believes in God as the efficient cause of creation, but it does not believe in Him as the material cause, as is believed by most of neo-Vedāntists and neo-Sāṅkhyas. According to Sāṅkhya, prakṛti is the material cause.
