Every revolution has its counter-revolution, according to sociologists. To every action corresponds a reaction, say physicists. The Popular Sandinista Revolution (RPS) that triumphed on July 19, 1979 also had its respective counterrevolution, which, created and supported by the US government, began, through the Central Intelligence Agency, to regroup the remains of the defeated National Guard, dispersed in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, as early as August of the same year, removing the Somoza family from the scene, to carry out its first military actions in December 1979. According to Manuel Espinoza Jarquín, in 1980 alone there were 99 armed aggressions by the Somoza counterrevolution and the Honduran army. But the military aggression lasted 10 years, hence the title of this book, La revolución sandinista y su heroica defensa, with the subtitle: un Playa Girón de diez años.
