Through the friendship of two girls, Sasha and Anna, readers follow the steps of preparing for Baptism, from attending catechumen classes to learning what happens during this sacred sacrament inside an Orthodox church. Along the way, the story explains important parts of Orthodox life in a clear and gentle way that is easy to understand for children ages 10 and up.
This book helps young readers learn:
- What Baptism and Chrismation are, and why they matter
- How Baptism is not just a ceremony, but the beginning of life in Christ
- Why the parish becomes a new family
- How the Holy Land is connected to the life of Christ, including Bethlehem, Mount Tabor, the Mount of Olives, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre
Orthodox words, traditions, and holy places are gently introduced and explained as part of the story, helping children feel more comfortable and confident as they prepare for Baptism and grow in their understanding of the Church.
Sasha and Anna's Baptism Journey is especially helpful for children and families who are new to the Orthodox Church, including those coming from a Protestant or non-Orthodox background.
