For more than two thousand years, scholars have proposed explanations for how the Great Pyramid of Giza was constructed. Many of these accounts focus on individual mechanisms or techniques, yet few address the full set of geological, physical, and engineering constraints imposed by the site itself.
This book examines the construction of the Great Pyramid from a physicist's perspective. Using geological surveys of the Giza plateau and the surrounding Nile valley, it begins with the observation that Giza differs markedly from the inclined limestone ridges that dominate the region. When this constraint is incorporated into the analysis, the construction problem becomes simpler rather than more complex.
By following what gravity, material properties, terrain, and structural stability would realistically allow, the book shows why many commonly cited models encounter serious engineering difficulties. From this foundation, a coherent construction method emerges, explaining block placement, internal chamber design, and architectural choices as practical solutions rather than unresolved mysteries.
The result is an evidence-based account of how the Great Pyramid could plausibly have been planned and built under Old Kingdom conditions, and why starting assumptions matter so critically in understanding ancient engineering.
