Sexual violence against children and adolescents is a sad reality in Brazil. This type of crime has serious repercussions on the lives of victims, affecting their physical, psychological and emotional well-being, as well as damaging their future prospects. The situation is even more worrying when we look at the vulnerability of boys and girls in different age groups, especially in contexts of poverty and social inequality. Various studies carried out in recent years have highlighted not only the magnitude of the problem, but also the profile of the victims and aggressors. These data show that, unfortunately, the majority of victims of sexual crimes are girls, often at very early ages, and that the violence occurs within the family or domestic environment, which makes reporting it even more difficult and the psychological impact even more devastating. Given this scenario, it is essential that society, the state and institutions work together to combat this violence, guaranteeing a safe and protective environment for children and adolescents.
