Suspecting something dubious and explaining to Shake that the economy of the entire County is at stake, due to the State's illogical plan of allowing the alewife into the St. Croix River, Walsh pleads with the detective, hoping he will take the case. From there on, Shake soon discovers that the alewife case might be more complicated than the Dorman investigation as they discover political corruption and intrigue at every turn.
