Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs) affect more than just the individual; they disrupt entire family systems - parents, siblings spouses, and beyond. Caregivers feel overwhelmed and exhausted by their new role and shattered by the loss of the person who is no longer the same.
Sadly, TBIs are a a silent epidemic, and each case is unique, ranging from mild to severe. Symptoms and recoveries defy a single narrative.
When the author's son suffered a TBI in 2007, she was overwhelmed, lost, and desperate for guidance. She lived with under certainty, fear, grief, exhaustion, and heartbreak. Yet, resources for caregivers navigating this life-altering journey were scarce. This is the Traumatic Brain Injury Resource that would have supported her on her journey.
This journal was born out of her experience as a mother navigating the uncertain and often isolating world of TBIs. This workbook provides support for TBI families, with personal stories, reflective prompts, and tools to help readers process the emotions, track their journey, and adjust to the life changes. It's a space to breathe, reflect, and move forward.
