The Shepherd of the Sea is a novel written by Henry Leverage and published in 1920. The story is set in the early 19th century and follows the adventures of Captain Harry Hartley, a British naval officer who becomes a privateer after being falsely accused of a crime. Hartley is given command of a ship called The Sea Hawk and sets out on a mission to capture French ships during the Napoleonic Wars. Along the way, he encounters a beautiful French woman named Jeanne, who becomes his love interest. As Hartley continues his privateering activities, he gains a reputation as a fierce and successful captain. However, he also faces many challenges and dangers, including battles with enemy ships and encounters with treacherous crew members. Throughout the novel, Leverage explores themes of honor, loyalty, and love.
