Sketches of the Lives of Sybil Jones and Rebecca Collins is a biographical book written by Frances Anne Budge and first published in 1900. The book tells the story of two Quaker women, Sybil Jones and Rebecca Collins, who dedicated their lives to missionary work and social activism in the 19th century. Sybil Jones was born in 1809 in Maine and became a Quaker minister at the age of 26. She traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe, preaching and advocating for abolitionism and women's rights. In 1853, she traveled to Russia at the invitation of Tsar Nicholas I to speak about peace and nonviolence.Rebecca Collins was born in 1833 in Pennsylvania and grew up in a Quaker family. She became involved in the abolitionist movement and eventually became a teacher and social worker. In 1869, she traveled to India with her husband to establish a school for girls in Bombay. The book provides a detailed account of the lives of these two remarkable women, including their personal struggles and triumphs, as well as their impact on the Quaker community and the broader social and political landscape of their time. It is a testament to the power of faith, activism, and social justice in shaping the lives of individuals and communities. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
