Alberto fue seleccionado para representar a su escuela secundaria en una Audición de la Banda de las Estrellas en la Universidad Rice University en Houston, Texas. Alberto pasó la audición para marchar en el Desfile de Acción de Gracias. Alberto, cuando era estudiante de noveno grado junto con los tamboristas de la escuela secundaria, fue seleccionado para tocar ritmos de tambor para el Presidente de los Estados Unidos de América en Houston, Texas.Alberto Villarreal también apareció en la portada del periódico de su escuela secundaria en la edición de diciembre en el grado 12.
