Bailén es la cuarta novela de la primera serie de los Episodios Nacionales de Benito Pérez Galdós.
El protagonista, Gabriel, sale del Madrid posterior al 2 de mayo de 1808 con dirección a AndalucÃa, concretamente Córdoba, donde han llevado a su amada Inés. Gabriel descubre que Inés, forzada a un matrimonio de conveniencia, quiere profesar en un convento de clausura.
Durante el camino se detiene en Bailén, en casa de una familia noble que está preparando a su único hijo varón para unirse al ejército de Castaños en la lucha contra los invasores franceses.
A raÃz de ello, Gabriel participará en la Batalla de Bailén, donde se enfrentan los ejércitos español y francés. Galdós se sirve del argumento para relatar con gran exactitud el desarrollo de la batalla, que concluye con una victoria para los españoles.
